Mad-ternity fashion

i am not sure if it is because i am now married and hence expected to conceive...
but i am seeing pregnant women everywhere i go!
AND my darling miss funky chic is also "baking a bun in her oven"...:)

there is a part of me that yearns to hold my own child in my arms. especially when i see my nephew and nieces, my maternal instinct kicks in instantly!
however, the thought of...putting on MORE weight than i would not pregnant also scares me. and *gasp*...what do i wear????

so, to prepare myself...and also to inspire other mom-to-be's...here are some tips on how to be more of a fashionable preggo, and less dowdy :)

Tip No. 1: the Keffiyah
this trend (also can be worn by non-mom-to-be's) was introduced by hip hop artist, kanye west. faced with a lot of public resistance, who said that he is promoting Islamic terrorism. i mean, how duuuh can you be??
anyway...this (or any other scarf...in case you don't want to raise a critical eye) WORN in this manner, is also good to camouflage your pregger belly!
our fave pregnant star ashlee simpson was seen wearing a floral keffiyah/scarf over a bright checkered tee, paired with black trousers and jacket.

where-to-buy: i bought one myself at Sunway Pyramid's Asian Avenue, for only RM30! wouldn't want to invest too much on this. :)

Tip No. 2: Flowy Maxi Dresses
This has always been a favourite for me. pregnant or not. some said, that only tall and lanky ladies can pull this look off. but i don't agree (or at least, i am in denial!). Nothing much to comment about this look. just ensure that the dresses you choose are empire-waisted to make space for your growing belly...:)

where-to-buy: this is in trend at the moment. most shops, boutiques and even online stores are selling these. check out mooie (bangsar & online), a model studio and other online stores listed on emmagem.com.

Tip No. 3: Big tops + Leggings

Aaah...Super Comfort. Probably to be worn on this relaxing weekends...or grocery shopping trips. but be warned. when pregnant, body parts WILL swell. and no, i don't mean just your belly. your legs will too! so, practice caution with this look. don't want to end up looking like a sausage!!

where-to-buy: i am not sure if expectant moms can wear normal leggings (never tried!), but i am sure maternity stores will sell these. so do check them out!

well, this is it for now from me...on maternity fashion. maybe miss funky chic would like to share her maternity fashion do's and don'ts?
:)
